I mean this world history and the retro-perspective you have posted is fine, but the real reason is Fed Rates. When the COVID-19 pandemic happened, the USA adopted a policy to print more money and provide fiscal stimulus. When the pandemic ended the supply shock didn't, what made it worse was the Ukraine-Russia War. So when the inflation lingered too long, the feds raised their Interest rates

Now when the Fed does this, it is a signal to the VC, Angels, Traders, etc. to put their money into the bond market. They stopped taking risks and thus all of the funding to the Startups and conglomerates that were booming suddenly stopped. Simultaneously RBI in India raised their interest rates to ensure FDI continues to invest in the Indian Bond market.

All of it is done to stop the money supply, now obviously when things are done to stop the money supply then those that need money (employees) will be hit the most cause their lifestyle needs to take a step back too. Thus whatever is happening with placements and stuff. 

If Fed cuts the rates, boom the placement season will be awesome again 

Indian fundamentals are strong (stable though weak Rupee, Majority government, push into FDI and manufacturing)

Just on the point about oil - I work in a Fortune 10 Oil &amp; Gas company, and the research we have done in-house shows that oil supply and demand are steady as ever. Yes, the Russia-Ukraine war did hinder the global supply but only for a brief period. The bigger concern now is the Israel-Palestine war, from which the oil companies are minting sweet profit. Tbh, the supply issues, while still palpable, are not as serious as they are made out to be. OPEC enjoys crushing the supply to elevate global oil prices.

Dedollarization will lead to the fall of the US economy. The US will wage war on anyone who spear 
heads it than just take it. Decades of military expenditure is no joke on their end. Their army can go against the entire world’s armies put together. It’s not going to happen within this decade. 

Neither is BRICS going to happen anytime soon, politicians will just make strong strategic ties like Indo-Russia etc and pass cooperative policies and then trade goods across as Rupee/Ruble etc. 

The dollar allowed the global markets to be completely free and self optimising which will just not be the case anymore. Now economies are going to close up a bit and be more purposeful about the movement of goods and labor.

You don’t need an MBA to start a business in India. This issue will not resolve in the next 3-4 years, we are going to enter a decade of slowdown.

Sanctions are useful. They slowed down the Russia-Ukraine conflict. If Putin was able to enter and conquer Ukraine in a few months or a year - then other countries will start feeling the urge too.

Russia is actually in a bad position right now where it can’t withdraw and has to bleed money to make very small territorial gains / war milestones. Even if Ukraine is ultimately conquered, as long as it takes long enough - the global consensus would be that it’s not worth it. This is the ideal scenario for everyone - leave data points that war is a bad idea.

Remember, time is real - money is just a handful of variables across banking systems.

I appreciate the analysis but it is naive and lacks an element of reality. You are in the knowledge acquisition phase, now that you have the facts in your hand - it’s time to develop a mature opinion on it.

Would just like to add a few pointers to this, which might alleviate some of the anxiety wrt the situation:

- more and more countries now move towards domestic currency-based transactions, using Vostro/Nostro accounts (as India has been using with Russia) as an easier temporary fix as compared to a commodity-based currency which the Developing world is working with the Middle East and Europe to build. That alternative will take a decade-plus, not simply because of the primacy of the dollar but also because governing  institutions like IMF/WTO etc. need to be replaced by new-economic-order alternatives that pivot to the needs of the developing world. Asian Financial integration and interest rates parity is the priority area for us in the long-term now, and effects are already showing with increased credit inflows to India from AIIB/ADB. Ray of hope for India!

- India has been somewhat successful in sheltering its economy in the short-run from global depressions, partly so because of robust domestic demand and some core sectors being resilient to shocks. Monetary policy as a tool for revival has been unsuccessful for central banks of most of Europe, mostly because it fails to address the supply-side crisis. Not really the case for India. India also has the demographic-dividend window of opportunity for at least the next two decades, a bubble of hope for us!

- political stability. As opposed to UK, Germany, USA, and Europe in general, that are undergoing a wave of RW-revivalism, trade protectionism and political gerrymandering, India has had the luxury of a decade of policy convergence and, if trends are to be believed, it will continue for another 5 years. Structural reforms introduced since 2016 are finally starting to bear fruit. Increasing Market trust and EoDB will necessarily insulate further shocks if policy direction remains intact. Another positive to look after!

Just as the government is supposed to invest heavily in it’s economy when the market is down (countercyclical fiscal policy intervention), now that the job market is down, its the IDEAL time to invest in oneself - so GET YOUR MBA FROM A TOP SCHOOL NOW !!
